NYCHC 2012 team wins Quebec BSR Title
The championship game of the Quebec BSR tournament was filled with excitement with the New York City Hockey Club 2012 winning by the score of 4-2 over Suisse SD, Academy. The game was tied 2-2 and looked like it was headed to OT before a rebound and a scrum in front of net resulted in the game winning goal for NYCHC with just 90 seconds remaining. The Suisse SD team mounted a surge in the final minute but NYCHC was able to add an empty net goal to secure the title.
The BSR tournament was comprised of 108 teams with over 2200 players from 7 different countries (United States, Canada, France, Japan, Czech Republic, Romania and Switzerland). The NYCHC team was able to overcome an opening game loss and a gut wrenching 2-1 win in their second game (elimination game) vs. Halifax Hawks from Nova Scotia in their bracket that featured 24 teams. The team then went a five game winning streak to capture the title of Quebec BSR Champions.
